As dedicated as Kobe was on the court, it was his family who always came first. After he retired in 2016, he made it a point to spend time with his family and enjoy the company of his wife and daughters.

For Kobe and Vanessa, their relationship started after meeting in 1999. After just six months, they were engaged and officially tied the knot in 2001.

While their marriage went through many ups and downs, including sexual misconduct allegations, Bryant always strived to make things work with the people that he cared about.

We’ve seen couples that have been, like, 85 years old and you look and you’re like, ‘Oh man, such an old, sweet couple,’ and I’d go talk to them because I wanna know,” said Kobe during an appearance on ‘All The Smoke’ in 2020. “One time a guy goes, ‘Yeah it’s great, but she just kicked me out of the bed last night, I was sleeping on the couch last two nights.’”

Despite the obstacles, Kobe and Vanessa would stay together for nearly two decades, having 4 kids and standing side-by-side as Kobe dominated the NBA.

Even after his playing days were over, the Bryant family would continue to make themselves known by having an impact on the community and changing lives for the better.

Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, died in a tragic helicopter crash that killed 9 people. Kobe was just 41-years-old.
