NBA Rumors: Lakers Prioritizing Backup Point Guard To Improve Roster

1 Min Read

The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to improve their backup point guard, as they aim to upgrade their roster, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

This season, Rajon Rondo has struggled as LeBron James’ backup. At this moment, he’s averaging 7.4 points and 5.4 assists while shooting 40.8 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from beyond the arc in 21.2 minutes per game.

This comes after rumors saw the light suggesting Darren Collison is aiming for a February return, with the Lakers and Clippers being considered his two preferred destinations. Collison retired before the 2019/20 season began.

Last season he played with the Indiana Pacers, posting 11.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 6.0 assists in 76 games. He’s linked with two of the best teams in the league and will be a great addition to any of them.

As for right now, the Lakers are reportedly focused on the point guard position, so we’ll see how this whole thing goes next year.

Collison recorded 46.7 percent from the field, 40.7 percent from beyond the arc and 83.2 percent from the free-throw line last year.
