NBA Rumors: Lakers Reportedly Still Hold Championship Aspirations For This Season

The Los Angeles Lakers have been an inconsistent team this year, and they have not been the championship team that many thought they would be. Many have called them for their effort on the defensive end of the floor, and the lack of production from their depth.

However, despite their struggles, it seems as though the Los Angeles Lakers still have championship aspirations for this season. Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report revealed that Lakers personnel still believe that “the healthy combination of LeBron James and Anthony Davis is still enough to threaten all comers for the Western Conference crown” if the team is able to reach the playoffs and get out of the play-in tournament. However, he also added that changes “are surely on the horizon” if the Lakers are unable to get past the play-in stage of the postseason.

“The Lakers still hold championship aspirations this season. Los Angeles personnel maintain that if they can reach the playoffs, the healthy combination of LeBron James and Anthony Davis is still enough to threaten all comers for the Western Conference crown. Some rival teams have echoed that sentiment as well. If the Lakers fail to advance beyond the play-in tournament, changes within the franchise are surely on the horizon.

It remains to be seen if the Los Angeles Lakers will in fact make the playoffs this year. They have recently lost 3 games in a row, and they will be facing a very difficult stretch of their schedule going forward. However, any team being led by LeBron James has a chance of doing well in the postseason. LeBron James himself has recently sent a warning to the NBA, telling everyone to not count him and the Lakers out, so perhaps we’ll see them get it together and make a run in the future.

The Los Angeles Lakers clearly have talent on the roster, but they simply haven’t been able to make their roster work as a unit. Perhaps that changes, but they are quickly running out of time to figure things out.
