Tyler Herro is the NBA’s Sixth Man of The Year this season, having been instrumental off the bench for the Miami Heat during the season. He averaged over 20 points a game during the regular season, shooting efficiently and making the most of his minutes, contributing to the Heat clinching the 1st seed in the East.

It’s playoff time now though, and despite the excellent Bubble run in his rookie year, the playoff lights seem to be getting too bright for Herro this time around. His averages have fallen quite a bit, so much so that he is averaging under 14 points a game and shooting an incredibly bad 27% from three-point range.

With the Heat now just one series away from making it back to the NBA Finals, they need all their players to step up against the Boston Celtics, who have beaten the Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks already. But as per an article in The Athletic, an NBA scout has spoken out, saying Herro won’t be enough to help Miami make it past the Celtics:

“I just think Miami doesn’t have quite enough,” the anonymous scout said. “It’s Butler, Butler, Butler and then who else? Tyler Herro, he’s averaged, what, 14 (points), in the playoffs? That’s not going to do it in this series. He’s got to be better.”

“Philadelphia did a decent job on him, but Tyler Herro’s got to rise to the occasion, and I’m not convinced he’s going to be a real productive number two to get them to the finals. He has to be. He hasn’t shown that yet.”

Jimmy Butler has made a case to be considered the best player in the playoffs this season, but his teammates will have to step up big time if they want to win this series. The Celtics have an incredible defense with a lot of size in their ranks, so if Herro can’t get his shots to fall, he may just prove this scout right.
