NBA Rumors: Boston Celtics Could Trade Jaylen Brown If They Fail To Succeed In The Playoffs

Trade rumors have been flying around for a while now, with a focus on Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons. Now, the Boston Celtics have some concerns they are looking to address during the trade deadline.

The principal rumor surrounding the Celtics is a potential trade for Dennis Schroder. It’s has been a rough few months for Schroder who reportedly rejected an $84 million deal with the Lakers to sign a one-year $5.9 million deal. Unfortunately, reports suggest that he might not see out the year with the C’s as they are more interested in getting value for the guard who has had an impressive campaign so far.

Meanwhile, a new report suggests that the Celtics are “monitoring” Jaylen Brown as he could be traded depending on how the team performs in the playoffs this season.

Via Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer:

“While the Celtics appear committed to building around Brown and Tatum, speculation about Brown’s availability has notably increased around the league. It is an ongoing topic of conversation among sources familiar with both players. Moving Brown would appear highly unlikely until after this season and seems more plausible ahead of 2022-23. But as long as Boston floats on the periphery of the Eastern Conference playoff picture, league personnel will monitor Brown’s status and if the Celtics inch closer toward pivoting in a new direction.”

Nonetheless, the Celtics still consider Brown as one of the cornerstones of the franchise. They still believe their dynamic duo of Brown and Jayson Tatum could bring success to the organization.

Brown has missed half of the Celtics’ game this season due to covid-19 protocols and a lingering hamstring injury. In the 14 games he played, he is averaging 21.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.

Although there is no measure of what success means to this Celtics team, a first-round exit will be frowned upon. With Brown and Tatum in top form, they could make some noise in the East.
