NBA Rumors: Boston Celtics “Widely Expected” To Move Dennis Schroder Prior To Trade Deadline If They Can Avoid Taking On Salary

The Boston Globe

Dennis Schroder is currently a point guard for the Boston Celtics. While the Celtics have struggled as a team this season, Dennis Schroder has enjoyed a productive season on an individual level. Right now, Schroder is averaging 14.8 PPG, 3.4 RPG, and 4.5 APG as the third offensive option on the Boston Celtics. He is also shooting 35.2% from beyond the arc.

Even though he is playing well, it seems as though the Boston Celtics may move on from Dennis Schroder prior to the trade deadline. However, it seems as though that will only happen if the deal presented doesn’t involve them taking on any salary.

Boston is widely expected to deal Schröder before the league’s Feb. 10 deadline if it can find a deal that sheds Schroder’s $5.9MM salary without taking salary back.

There are definitely a lot of teams that could use a point guard like Dennis Schroder. He is a solid scorer and has been shooting the 3PT shot relatively well this year. He is also a stout defender at the guard position. Dennis Schroder has been linked with quite a few teams, with the most recent team connected to him being the Los Angeles Clippers. He could definitely be a solid role player next to other stars, and there’s no question that he can make a difference in a supplementary role.

It makes sense for the Boston Celtics to trade Dennis Schroder ahead of the trade deadline, as he is only on a one-year deal. There’s no question that it would be best for the team to try and move him and try to get something back, while also avoiding the prospect of giving him a lucrative contract in order to retain him. Hopefully, we see the Celtics get a solid return for Dennis Schroder while sending him to a destination where he’ll thrive.
