The Cleveland Cavaliers have been a surprisingly successful team this year. While they weren’t predicted to make much noise in the Eastern Conference at the start of the season, the emergence of players like Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen has thrust them into the playoff race. They are currently 4th in the Eastern Conference with a 31-20 record.

Earlier in the season, point guard Ricky Rubio went down with a season-ending injury. The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired guard Rajon Rondo to try and make up for it, it seems as though they are still looking for a guard ahead of the trade deadline.

Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report has recently revealed that the Cleveland Cavaliers are “offering their 2022 first-round pick” to try and acquire a “combo guard”. Two targets listed in the article were Eric Gordon and Caris LeVert, though Pincus added that there are “other candidates”. It seems as though Ricky Rubio will be the contract being sent out to make the money work.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are believed to be offering their 2022 first-round pick (projected to be in the 18-22 range) for the best combo guard they can get. That might be Eric Gordon of the Houston Rockets or Caris LeVert of the Indiana Pacers, among other candidates. Injured point guard Ricky Rubio is expected to represent the outgoing salary from Cleveland.

It is clear that the Cleveland Cavaliers are trying to get reinforcements to help the team make a playoff run. There is no doubt that the team has played really well this year, and another guard could help them get even better. Eric Gordon and Caris LeVert would provide scoring and ballhandling for the team, both things that are sorely needed.

Hopefully, we see the Cleveland Cavaliers make some noise in the postseason. They are a young, defensively stout team that also has an elite offensive point guard in Darius Garland. They will be tough to face in a 7 game series, even if most people don’t view them as legitimate contenders for the title.
