NBA Rumors: Celtics Emerging As Serious Contenders For Andre Drummond

2 Min Read

With the trade deadline officially behind us, the focus has shifted to the buyout market as contending teams try to make last-minute adjustments to their roster.

No doubt, one of the best names available right now is Andre Drummond, an old-school rim runner who brings size and skill in the paint. Every indication so far tells us he is likely headed to L.A., but a new team has entered the fold for his services: the Boston Celtics.

“The Celtics met with Andre Drummond today. Boston would like to add him to fill their hole in the middle. Boston has a real shot at him.”

The Celtics have a solid core in Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kemba Walker. But with a relatively thin frontcourt, Drummond could drastically improve the roster with his particular skill set as a rebounder and shot-blocker.

This season, he’s averaging 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game on 47% shooting.

And while his game is still very much flawed, his upcoming decision could shake up the NBA’s balance of power in a big way. Whether it’s L.A. or Boston, he will be someone to watch throughout these next few days and weeks.
