Kyrie Irving For Ben Simmons: A Blockbuster Trade To Bolster Both Nets And Sixers

5 Min Read

The two players that are causing the most off-court drama are Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons. Irving is refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccination even though he is playing in the city of New York, where he will not be allowed to play at home. Of course, Irving is the only factor preventing the Nets from being a complete superteam that should win it all.

In Philadelphia, the Ben Simmons saga has gotten ugly. Simmons has given up on the team he helped lead to the 1st seed in the East last year, and the team has given up on their 3-time All-Star. It makes a ton of sense that Brooklyn and Philadelphia agree on a deal to swap star players, giving each other the perfect co-stars for their franchise players. With Irving in Philadelphia and Simmons in Brooklyn, both teams have a shot to be much better than they already are.

Brooklyn Find A Consistent Big Three To Help Them Win The Title

The Brooklyn Nets are a ridiculous team as is, with 3 offensive superstars that can drop 40 points with ease. But realistically, Brooklyn doesn’t really need 3 offensive superstars. Rather, they can win with just two. Kevin Durant is the best player on the team, averaging 26.9 PPG in the regular season and 34.3 PPG in the playoffs. James Harden, without a doubt, is a better player than Irving.

The former MVP averaged 24.6 PPG and 10.8 APG despite playing in the most difficult season of his career, and The Beard might be the best isolation scorer ever. With Durant and Harden, the Nets can afford to do without the off-court distractions that Kyrie Irving brings every season. With Ben Simmons, the team is getting an All-Star playmaker and defensive specialist.

Simmons can become the best lockdown defender of the team, can focus on rebounding the ball, and is great enough to be the primary playmaker. The Nets had everything last year, but their defense was in question. With the man who finished second in the Defensive Player of the Year race, Brooklyn will be unbeatable on all accounts.

Philadelphia 76ers Have A Perfect Dynamic Duo Without Weaknesses

The 76ers have a superstar in Joel Embiid, and because of that, they have built a championship contender that has been a force in the East over the past few years. Last year, the 76ers finished 1st in the Eastern Conference with Embiid playing like an MVP candidate. Of course, the defensive skills of Ben Simmons was the second-most important factor. With Simmons out of the picture, they need to find a player that will fit better with Embiid.

If the team can finish with the best record in the East with two players who don’t fit, acquiring a perimeter scorer and offensive superstar to pair with Embiid and Tobias Harris would boost their title chances tremendously. It has been known that acquiring a point guard who can shoot will take this team to the next level, and Kyrie Irving is that man.

Few players in the NBA today can bring Irving’s ability to score (26.9 PPG last season) and also take over in the clutch as shown by his Game 7 basket in the 2016 Finals. With Embiid down low and Irving dominating the perimeter, the 76ers have the pieces to replace Ben Simmons which come in the form of Matisse Thybulle’s defense and the guard play of Tyrese Maxey and Shake Milton.
