NBA Trade Rumors: Chicago Bulls Could Go ‘All-In’ For Joel Embiid

2 Min Read

Following another disappointing campaign, the Chicago Bulls are in store for some major changes this offseason.

With ex-head coach Jim Boylen out the door, and defensive specialist Tom Thibodeau brought in, the Bulls have already taken steps to build a winning culture for their franchise.

But if they want to make any real progress, they’ll need to bring in a star. In a recent article by Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report, he suggested a trade that could see the Bulls land Sixers big man, Joel Embiid.

“The Bulls should be a fringe playoff team next year before setting themselves up as a possible free-agent destination in 2021. Getting Joel Embiid now would help them with both. If the Philadelphia 76ers decide to break up their Ben Simmons-Embiid core, the Bulls should go all-in for the three-time All-Star. Even his averages of 23.0 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 blocks this season seem modest compared to what Embiid could put up with the right type of roster around him.”

The Bulls would obviously have to give up a lot for Embiid but, with him, they’d finally have the franchise-altering start they’ve been waiting for. This past season, at 26-years-old, he averaged 23.0 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 blocks per game on 47% shooting.

If they’re able to keep Zach LaVine and add shooters to fill out the roster, they could become a real threat in the Eastern Conference.

But with everything going on, there are no guarantees for anyone or any team heading into these next few weeks and months. It will be up to Chicago to make the right moves and finally turn things around.
