Anthony Davis’ future with the Mavericks has been dwindling ever since Nico Harrison was fired from his job as their general manager.

At one point, it seemed that Anthony Davis was a part of the Mavericks’ plans to build around Cooper Flagg, but simultaneously, contradictory reports suggested that the Mavericks would be listening to offers for Anthony Davis but not Kyrie Irving.

Now, rumors reportedly suggest that Anthony Davis has come to terms with the fact that he could be traded, and he expects that he will be traded soon.

NBA fans saw these rumors on social media and could not believe how impatient the Mavericks are reportedly being with Anthony Davis. They also believed that if Davis (who currently doesn’t have a lot of trade value due to his injury history) could still fetch them sufficient draft assets, then the Luka Doncic trade this February would not be fully fruitless.

“They traded Luka for no reason then.”

“So Dallas just gave LUKA away at this point. 😭😭😭”

“The Mavs traded Luka for Max Christie. 😭”

“The Mavericks are making a huge mistake doing this. They aren’t going to get anything returned close to the value of his skill set because of his contract. This is forced; you don’t need to trade him when you have stars on rookie contracts.”

“I wonder which team will be his next hospital ward.”

“The Lakers got Luka for free lmao.”

Several such reactions flooded the internet as some fans vented their frustrations with Davis and how the franchise essentially gave up on their former franchise player, Luka Doncic, and got next to nothing in return from the trade.

Anthony Davis has missed many more games than he has played for the Mavericks ever since he was traded to Dallas. He has played in 15 regular season games, including last season, since he joined the Mavericks. He averages 19.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists this season, while shooting 52.9% from the field.

The Chicago Bulls are one of the teams reportedly interested in trading for Anthony Davis this season. They apparently inquired about his trade value and internally discussed who they could potentially offer in a trade. Davis has a $54.1 million salary for 2025-26 and is owed approximately $174 million over the next three seasons.

If the Bulls manage to figure out the right trade package, Davis could play for an Eastern Conference team for the first time in his career. The trade deadline is still over two months away (February 6), and it will be interesting to see where Davis’ future takes him.
