NBA Rumors: Knicks, Mavericks, And Cavaliers Are Interested In Trading For Dennis Schroder

The Boston Globe

Dennis Schroder is a solid point guard who currently plays for the Boston Celtics. He is known as a fairly solid offensive player, who has a knack for scoring and some playmaking ability. Currently, Dennis Schroder is averaging 16.1 PPG, 3.3 RPG, and 4.5 APG for the Celtics.

It seems as though Dennis Schroder’s play has earned him some trade interest from other teams. Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report has recently revealed that the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Dallas Mavericks are “potential destinations for Dennis Schroder.

There’s a strong possibility Dennis Schroder is traded ahead of the deadline. Boston is expected to avoid the tax and therefore likely won’t be able to afford the point guard this offseason, which was also why the Celtics moved Daniel Theis to the Bulls last season. New York, Cleveland and Dallas have been mentioned as potential destinations for Schroder.

It is quite easy to see why all of those teams need Dennis Schroder. The Dallas Mavericks need another ballhandler on the roster, the Cleveland Cavaliers require a starting-caliber guard next to Darius Garland due to injuries to Collin Sexton and Ricky Rubio, while the New York Knicks simply need more talent to add to their squad.

We’ll see if Dennis Schroder does in fact get moved, or if the Boston Celtics elect to retain him to make a push for the playoffs. This isn’t the first time Dennis Schroder was linked with a trade, and it was previously reported that the Boston Celtics could be open to talks about Dennis Schroder after the guard’s strong season. The report claimed that the guard’s play “likely prices him out of a potential re-signing”, and a similar sentiment can be seen in the above report by Jake Fischer as well. We’ll likely have more clue as to what the Celtics decide to do closer to the trade deadline.
