NBA Rumors: The Celtics, Mavericks, Raptors And Hawks Want Andre Drummond

2 Min Read

Although this season somehow looked promising for the Detroit Pistons, that hasn’t been the case and their bad moment has reportedly led them to try to ship their big man Andre Drummond.

ESPN’s NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Atlanta Hawks have been engaged in talks, but a deal is far to be completed. He also said that the Pistons are talking to “several other teams” about a possible deal for the two-time All-Star.

Further, Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports added that that the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks and Toronto Raptors also signed their names on the list of suitors for Drummond’s services.

This season has been great statistically speaking for Drummond, as he’s averaging a career-high in points and steals, and close to a career-high in rebounds per game while shooting 54 percent from the field.

Drummond has a $28 million player option for next season that he is unlikely to exercise, prompting the Pistons to start looking for trade partners for him. Among these teams, only the Hawks are out of playoff contention.

However, according to Vincent Ellis of USA Today, Atlanta would send expiring contracts and a protected 2020 draft pick from the Nets to Detroit.

Pistons owner Tom Gores said their lack of success has forced the team to “assess everything” leading up to the Feb. 6 trade deadline, so we’ll see how this whole thing goes. Drummond is a great player and will be a great addition to any team. It remains to be seen who will send the best package to Detroit in exchange for the big man.
