The Dallas Mavericks currently have a cornerstone superstar in Luka Doncic. The European superstar has only gotten better with each passing season. But despite Doncic developing into an excellent player, the Mavericks seem to be failing at fully optimizing the 23-year-old.

Take the 2022-23 NBA season, for example, Luka has been having an MVP-caliber season, but the Mavericks are still stuck at the 9th seed in the Western Conference with a record of 14-13 so far. Keeping that in mind, the Mavericks are bound to make a few trades as the season progresses.

But what if instead of trading for role players, the Mavericks get Luka Doncic, another superstar in DeMar DeRozan? That sounds like a dream come true, to be honest.

Can The Dallas Mavericks Trade For DeMar DeRozan?

Ever since joining the Chicago Bulls, DeMar DeRozan has changed the narrative around himself. He has turned around his career and is now one of the most valuable players in the league.

Keeping that in mind, it’s no surprise that many teams are interested in trading for DeRozan. Moreover, the poor form of the Chicago Bulls so far this season makes it easier for other teams to target DeRozan. Heavy.com recently provided its own spin to how the Mavericks can potentially trade for DeRozan and make a phenomenal duo.

Via Heavy:

With how poorly the Chicago Bulls have played this year, they could be a team to monitor when it comes to blowing things up. If DeMar DeRozan were to become available, the Mavericks should take a look, and considering his age and contract, his trade value may be less than some think.

Here’s an outline of a potential trade:

Mavericks receive: DeRozan, Goran Dragic

Bulls receive: Tim Hardaway Jr., Josh Green, Frank Ntlikina, 2025 1st-Round Pick, 2027 1st-Round Pick (Lottery Protected)

Adding DeRozan to the mix would allow the Mavericks to take some pressure off of Doncic, as he has proven to be one of the best isolation scorers in the NBA. And while he’s not a great three-point shooter, his shot creation alone would be enough to make a huge impact.

While it all sounds good on paper, the Bulls aren’t in any rush to accept any trade offers around DeRozan. But imagine if the Mavs had a duo of DeRozan and Doncic? It would certainly be a dynamic duo.
