The Mavericks Are Hoping To Land Clint Capela In A Three-Team Deal If Pascal Siakam Gets Traded To Hawks

The Dallas Mavericks have tried to put a contending roster around Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving this offseason, and they have already made a number of trades and free agency acquisitions. It seems as though they are hoping for some things to shake around the league, before making other moves to improve their roster.

A recent report from NBA insider Marc Stein revealed that the Dallas Mavericks are hoping that the Atlanta Hawks land Pascal Siakam, so they can potentially land center Clint Capela themselves.

"You can safely presume that the Dallas Mavericks are rooting for Atlanta to win the trade race for Toronto's Siakam ... and that they’re also hoping such a trade features Hawks center Clint Capela as opposed to a strictly De’Andre Hunter-centric deal."

"Capela has two seasons left on his current contract valued at nearly $43 million. The Raptors would appear to have little need for a pricey center after re-signing Jakob Poeltl this month to a four-year deal worth $78 million, so a theoretical trade of Siakam to the Hawks that features Capela would open the door for Dallas to join the trade as a third team or pursue a separate deal with Toronto for Capela."

Though the Mavericks did draft Dereck Lively in the first round this season, it is clear that they want a more proven center to play a starting role. Clint Capela could certainly fit the bill, as he is well-known as a player that can be a lob threat and protect the rim.

This past season, Clint Capela averaged 12.0 PPG, 11.0 RPG, and 1.2 BPG while shooting 65.3% from the field for the Atlanta Hawks. He would definitely be a good addition to the Mavericks. The team has been linked to Clint Capela in the past, and we'll see what happens in the future.

The Dallas Mavericks Also Want To Sign Kelly Oubre Jr.

There are definitely some moves that the Dallas Mavericks can make immediately right now. In fact, they have recently been linked with two-way forward Kelly Oubre Jr., who last played for the Charlotte Hornets.

"In other news, the Mavericks have also expressed exploratory interest in several free agent forwards, including Kelly Oubre Jr. and Derrick Jones Jr., league sources told HoopsHype."

It will be interesting to see whether the Dallas Mavericks do manage to land Kelly Oubre Jr, and he would certainly help them on both ends of the floor. However, there are other great free-agent options out there, and we'll see what the Mavericks end up doing.
