NBA Rumors: Domantas Sabonis Could Be The Perfect Target For The Golden State Warriors This Offseason

The Golden State Warriors have been an extremely inconsistent team this season. They have a lot of younger players who have been trying to acclimate to the system. While this year seems to be a developmental year for the Golden State Warriors, it seems like their future priority should be chasing wins while Stephen Curry is still in his prime.

  • Golden State Warriors Get Another Star

The Golden State Warriors need some more star power to compete with the best teams in the Western Conference, and that means that they could opt to search for a trade. A solid trade target would be Domantas Sabonis of the Indiana Pacers. Here is the potential trade package:

Golden State Warriors Receive: Domantas Sabonis

Indiana Pacers Receive: Kelly Oubre Jr. (sign-and-trade), Eric Paschall, Jordan Poole, a future first-round pick, a future second-round pick

Indiana Pacers Get Some Pieces For The Future

The Indiana Pacers haven’t been an elite team this season: the Indiana Pacers are 9th in the Eastern Conference, and they currently look like a fringe playoff team. During this upcoming off-season, perhaps the management could elect to make a trade in order to build for the future, and avoid being in no man’s land. Domantas Sabonis is their most valuable trade asset: the Indiana Pacers would most certainly demand a decent amount of assets in order to send him away.

Kelly Oubre Jr. would have to agree to a sign-and-trade: but perhaps the Indiana Pacers would be an appealing destination for him, as he would likely get more touches there than he would in Golden State. The Golden State Warriors would also have to send out a player who could fit in at the PF position, which means that Eric Paschall would be included in the deal as well. Eric Paschall is a bruising power forward who hasn’t gotten as much playing time as he did last season: perhaps the Indiana Pacers could try to unlock more of his scoring, by giving him more of a role on offense. Jordan Poole could be a solid bench player, and the two picks would be solid for the future. This is a good trade package for a multiple-time All-Star.

Golden State Warriors Get Another Star

Domantas Sabonis would provide the Golden State Warriors with another star and could help them contend immediately. The Golden State Warriors lack a dominant big man, and Domantas Sabonis could be the answer. Sabonis is currently having a stellar season with the Indiana Pacers, averaging 19.9 PPG, 11.4 RPG, and 6.0 APG. Domantas Sabonis is a big man who can play both PF and C, and he is one of the best passing big men in the game today. Sabonis’ ability to score inside would give the Golden State Warriors more firepower, and his passing ability would allow him to find Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson for open shots on the perimeter.

Domantas Sabonis is a player that could help the Golden State Warriors’ offense, and allow them to make a superteam once again. With this potential trade, they would still have most of their current core, while still being able to keep James Wiseman as insurance for the future. The Golden State Warriors in turn would give Domantas Sabonis the opportunity to potentially compete for an NBA championship in the future, as he’d be playing with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. Domantas Sabonis could be the perfect trade target for the Golden State Warriors, and he could help them regain their status as a contender.
