NBA Rumors: Steph Curry, Klay Thompson Pushing Warriors To Trade For Bradley Beal

It wasn’t that long ago that the Golden State Warriors were at the top of the basketball world. Between 2015-2019, they made four straight Finals and won three NBA Championships, cementing themselves as one of the premier franchises in the modern NBA era.

But after Kevin Durant’s departure in 2019, and Klay Thompson’s injuries over the past two seasons, the Warriors just haven’t been the same.

Now years removed from their title run (without so much as a playoff appearance in the meantime), Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and even Draymond Green are pushing the team to make some moves.

According to Marcus Thompson of The Athletic, the top of the wish list for the Warriors trio includes Bradley Beal, whose future with the Wizards has long been shrouded in mystery and speculation.

Some on the Golden State Warriors are watching closely the next move of Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal. Should he become available, he’s at the top of the offseason wishlist.

The Warriors’ trio of stars — Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson — have made it clear to management they want the franchise to focus on the pursuit of a championship, even to consider using their two lottery picks to get someone who can help immediately, sources confirmed. Warriors general manager Bob Myers said their goal this offseason is to add more of a veteran presence.

Should the Warriors go that route, Beal, the Washington Wizards’ guard who made third-team All-NBA, is deemed to be the best player and best fit for the Warriors among the players who could potentially be available this offseason.

Last year, we wrote about what a potential Beal trade would look like for the Warriors.  And while the scenario might still sound like a long shot, it is more than a mere possibility for the 6x Champions.

Besides their main core, the team has a lot of players to offer in a deal, including Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Eric Paschall. They also have multiple picks they could throw in the deal.

For a team like the Wizards, the chance to trade their disgruntled star for a package containing multiple young players and draft picks might be hard to pass up.

For the Warriors, though, it almost makes too much sense. While Beal lacks some edge defensively, his shooting and scoring ability would be an amazing and scary fit next to the Splash Bros.

Either way, if you thought the Warriors were going to sit on their hands this offseason, you thought wrong.
