NBA Rumors: James Harden Wants To Leave The Houston Rockets, Doesn’t Care About John Wall’s Arrival

The recent acquisition of John Wall from the Washington Wizards does not seem to be enough to motivate James Harden into staying with the Houston Rockets according to a report from ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne and Adrian Wojnarowski

ESPN reporting with @RamonaShelburne: The arrival of John Wall has left All-NBA guard James Harden unmoved and uninterested in pursuing a new partnership and the franchise star continues to push the Houston Rockets for a trade. https://t.co/v1ldmebYqd

The report comes after Wall’s 21-point outing against the Chicago Bulls Sunday night in which the Rockets lost, 91-104. After the game, the 30-year-old 5x All-Star told reporters, “I think me and James can be a heck of a combination. I just hope we get the opportunity to get into the regular season and see how it goes” James Harden, however, does not seem to be interested in seeing how it goes, traveling to Atlanta and Las Vegas for social engagements before showing up late to training camp. Shelburne and Wojnarowski cited a source who claimed that Harden’s desire to be traded has nothing personal to do with Wall. So far, Harden and Wall have yet to even practice together due to Harden’s late arrival and subsequent COVID test restrictions.

As it stands, the frontrunners for Harden’s trade destination are the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets, allowing him to team up with fellow former MVP and Thunder teammate Kevin Durant. The Miami Heat have also popped up on the radar as a potential trade destination. It is promising to see Wall perform in the past two preseason games after missing two seasons due to injury. It will be interesting to see Wall return to form next to a reluctant James Harden.
