NBA Rumors: Minnesota Orchestrating Four-Team Trade With Rockets, Warriors, And Hawks For D’Angelo Russell

2 Min Read

The NBA trade season has officially begun and as teams begin their quest to improve their roster, the future of many players has fallen under increasing doubt.

In Minnesota, their struggles have opened the door wide open for change, and their pursuit of D’Angelo Russell may lead them to sacrifice several key players on their roster.

The Rockets continue to fall below expectations behind the forces of James Harden and Russell Westbrook. The rumor is, Clint Capela could be the agent by which changes are made.

With endless opportunities, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting a potential 4-team trade in the works between Houston, Golden State, Atlanta, and Minnesota.

The Timberwolves are orchestrating multiteam trade discussions with Houston and Atlanta in hopes of ultimately turning discussions into a four-way deal that brings Golden State guard D’Angelo Russell to Minnesota, league sources told ESPN.

The Timberwolves, Rockets and Hawks have the assets to fulfill some of each team’s goals: forward Robert Covington to Houston, center Clint Capela to the Hawks and potentially two first-round picks and an expiring contract to Minnesota, league sources said.

As Woj points out, any offer from the Wolves involving Russell would likely have to include Andrew Wiggins. Golden State has an interest in shedding salary in a potential Russell trade, and Minnesota has the means to offer it.

While this type of blockbuster deal is pretty much unprecedented in today’s NBA, it’s something that may very well happen. In this scenario, all sides benefit in what is a major move of players.

It may be a long-shot, but it’s not one worthy of scoffing about.
