Draymond Green is one of the best defensive players in the league, and there is no doubt that he is a valuable player for the Golden State Warriors. He and Stephen Curry make an elite tandem, and his playmaking is extremely helpful for the shooters on the team. As of right now, Draymond Green is averaging 7.9 PPG, 7.4 RPG, and 6.9 APG.

Even though he is extremely important to the team, some believe that the Warriors should explore trading Draymond Green since he can leave in free agency at the end of the year. One of those people is an NBA executive, who claimed that his incident with Jordan Poole is “still dragging down the team.” Jack Simone of Heavy relayed the news.

“They should [trade him this year]”, a Western Conference executive told Deveney. “If they made the decision that they’re not giving up any of the young kids… are you going to just keep chugging forward with what you’ve got… Draymond punch with [Jordan] Poole was a bigger deal than they let on, it is still dragging down that team.”

There is no doubt that trading Draymond Green could end up being useful for the franchise going forward, as they would likely get a decent return for one of the most elite defenders in the game. With that being said, keeping him could be a good option as well, as the Warriors are a team trying to win immediately. We’ll see whether the front office ends up prioritizing the now or the future, and there’s an argument for both sides.

Draymond Green Hinted His Time With The Warriors May Be Coming To An End

Draymond Green is a player that clearly understands the business side of basketball, and he previously hinted that might not be a Warrior forever. Sometimes, the financial aspect takes precedence over the basketball aspect in the NBA.

Quite frankly, the writing’s on the wall. I understand the business. We tend to get into this mindset of someone owes us something because of what we’ve accomplished. You’d be an idiot to walk around feeling that way. I feel like you’re just setting yourself up for failure.

Of course, we could easily see the Golden State Warriors re-sign Draymond Green this year. However, it is also quite possible that he will leave to chase a payday. This is certainly a situation to monitor, both right now, ahead of the trade deadline, and going forward.

Most Warriors fans would consider Draymond Green a Warriors legend, and many believe that he should be a team lifer. Hopefully, the franchise views him the same way, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
