Russell Westbrook has found a way to stay relevant in the NBA this season, embracing sixth man role on the Los Angeles Lakers, thriving off the bench for the Purple and Gold, showing that he can be impactful for the team, even earning the support of the fans who wanted him out of the team last campaign.

Even though he’s been really good at that new role, many people think he’s still a tradeable piece for the Los Angeles Lakers. Regardless of his good moment, plenty of fans believe he can give the team what it needs, and the front office should part ways with Westbrook.

Earlier this week, reports suggested that the Los Angeles Lakers are discussing a trade around Westbrook with the Charlotte Hornets, and fans appear to be done with Brodie after his recent performance against the Indiana Pacers.

Russell Westbrook Still Discussed In Trade Talks By Lakers

The Lakers are still working on getting things done before the trade deadline, and it seems like Russ could be on the move. According to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, the Purple and Gold are discussing a trade with the Utah Jazz centered around Russ.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz have had exploratory conversations centered around star guard Russell Westbrook, league sources tell Bleacher Report. However, the Lakers are said to be in communication with most teams to sift through the most reasonable and logical options available.

Haynes explains that despite Westbrook’s good displays on the court, the point guard hasn’t secured his spot on the Lakers roster, and his exit could be imminent.

Westbrook has found his comfort zone as the team’s top reserve, placing him in the conversation for the Sixth Man of the Year award. Though his play has improved since accepting his new role, he has remained available for trade.

Seeing how he’s played this season, Westbrook could be a good piece for the Jazz. They started the season leading the Western Conference and now remain a competitive team. However, adding somebody like Russ could take them to the next level in a stacked Western Conference.

It remains to be seen if the Lakers decide to move the former NBA MVP and where, as they need to consider what they will get in return for the leading candidate to win the Sixth Man of the Year award.
