NBA Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers Could Land JJ Redick This Offseason

2 Min Read

The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the biggest candidates to win the NBA Championship and they’ll continue to be for as long as LeBron James and Anthony Davis are in town.

However, it’s been clear that they could use another three-point shooter, as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Danny Green can go ice cold from beyond the arc in the blink of an eye, and both Davis and James need guys who can spread the floor to be at their best.

That’s why Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz reported that the Lakers could make a run at JJ Redick next season after his impressive playoff streak came to an end with the New Orleans Pelicans this season:

“After picking up Dion Waiters and JR Smith from the bargain bin this year, the Lakers need to target Redick for some floor-spacing help this offseason,” Swartz wrote.

The Lakers were the 9th-worst team in three-point shooting this season (34.9%) and have been the second-worst in the playoffs with (33.1%). So yeah, adding Redick, a career 41.6% shooter (coming off a 45.3% season) is definitely going to be a priority for the purple and gold.

Redick still has one year left in his contract so the Pelicans may be smart to move him while they still can, especially if they start to slide in the standings as the season goes by. The Lakers don’t have that many assets to give up in return, so they’ll likely fight an uphill battle to land the veteran sharpshooter.
