NBA Trade Rumors: Miami Heat Have “Long Showed Interest” In Kyle Lowry

2 Min Read

After making the NBA Finals last season, the Miami Heat came into the 2021 campaign with ultra-high expectations. Sadly, at this point, they’ve been unable to meet them.

Since the beginning, Miami has been crumbling due to all kinds of health problems, including injuries and a COVID-19 scare with Jimmy Butler, who reportedly lost 12 pounds in a week due to the virus.

Sitting at 12th in the East, with a 9-14 record, it’s safe to say the Heat aren’t where they want to be right now.

In a report by Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, they could be looking to acquire Toronto’s Kyle Lowry for some help.

Lowry’s age and the length of his contract may limit his most likely suitors to championship contenders,” Fischer wrote. “And while they’ve been mired in their own slow start, the Heat still hold title aspirations and have long shown interest in Lowry. ‘He’s a very Miami-type player,’ another Eastern team official said. ‘Gritty, tough.’”

Lowry, 34, has been a core member of the Raptors since his arrival in 2012. The team has shown no indication of wanting to trade him, but he could be made available if Toronto decides to start a rebuild.

In Lowry, the Heat would get a solid leader, experienced veteran, and sure-fire shooter. Plug a guy like that alongside Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, and it could lead to astounding results.

This season, Kyle is averaging 17.6 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists per game on 42% shooting.
