John Collins is a solid power forward who currently plays for the Atlanta Hawks. He is well-known for his athleticism and rebounding ability. As of right now, John Collins is averaging 13.5 PPG, 7.7 RPG, and 1.2 BPG.

This season, John Collins has notably been featured in a number of trade rumors. It was previously reported that he could be a trade target for the New Orleans Pelicans, who are trying “to find greater offense and more shooting.”

New Orleans has been repeatedly mentioned as a suitor for Hawks forward John Collins, and the Pelicans have certainly registered their interest with Atlanta, sources said. The teams would seem to be natural trade partners, with the Hawks eager to add defensive-minded players and the Pelicans looking to find greater offense and more shooting.

Though it is clear that the Atlanta Hawks have tried to move John Collins frequently over the last few years, it seems as though their view on a John Collins trade may have changed recently ahead of the deadline.

The Hawks Could Keep John Collins After All

A recent report from Matt Moore of Action Network revealed that the Hawks “are unlikely to trade John Collins” because of their new front office. This is certainly a departure from their previous stance, but the forward is young and talented, and it is easy to see why they would want to keep him.

Similarly, after years of being on the trade block, sources believe the Hawks are unlikely to trade John Collins under the new front office that took over this season.

Of course, things are fluid in the league, and things could change in the future regarding this matter. The Atlanta Hawks could easily decide to trade John Collins this year, especially due to the big man’s declining production. As of right now, John Collins is also the team’s easiest pathway to some sort of upgrade due to his perceived value and potential upside.

The Atlanta Hawks have not been the top-tier team that many envisioned after the Dejounte Murray trade. However, they still have a fair amount of talent on the roster, and it is easy to see the Hawks potentially making a deep run in the right conditions. They made the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021, and it would be unwise to underestimate them once again. Trae Young and Dejounte Murray could definitely surprise when it comes to the playoffs.
