NBA Rumors: Warriors Could Trade Kelly Oubre Jr. To The New Orleans Pelicans

2 Min Read

Kelly Oubre Jr. hasn’t had the easiest transition to the Warriors so far. Aas a key player with the Wizards, and then the Suns last season, Oubre was seen as a solid 3-and-D player heading into the 2020 offseason.

When he was traded to the Warriors, it was a move that was welcomed and praised by the media and fans.

Unfortunately, Oubre hasn’t been able to shake out of his major shooting slump, and the Warriors are apparently considering trading him after just 17 games.

With season averages of just 11.6 points on just 35% shooting, the 25-year-old big man has not been the guy his team needs him to be. The Dubs, who had Championship aspirations at the start of 2021, are just 9-8 so far, currently 8th in the Western Conference.

The hope for the Pelicans is that a change of scenery might be what he needs to get his game back on track. Last season, Oubre was putting up over 18 points per game for the Suns. Alongside Zion Williamson, Jrue Holiday, and head coach Stan Van Gundy, he could bounce back and blossom into the young stud many believe he still is.

Needless to say, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens with him, and how long the Warriors will give him to get his act together.
