The New York Knicks are a team that is on the verge of making the playoffs. Julius Randle has been a revelation this season, and the other players have also been impressive, such as RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley. The Knicks have a solid young core and have recently traded for an elite veteran in Derrick Rose. But they are currently in the 9th seed in the Eastern Conference and could use a lift to become a playoff seed.
Victor Oladipo could be someone that the Knicks could trade for. He has been linked to them recently. Victor Oladipo could be the missing piece to take the New York Knicks into a playoffs spot in the Eastern Conference, and he could be a helpful presence as an experienced playoffs player. Here is a possible trade package:
New York Knicks Receive: Victor Oladipo
Houston Rockets Receive: Frank Ntilikina, Kevin Knox, Alec Burks, and a future second-round pick
Houston Rockets Receive Solid Young Players
Victor Oladipo is on an expiring contract and will hit free agency at the end of the season. The Houston Rockets could elect to trade him in order to build for the future. They are currently 12th in the Western Conference. They could add to their trove of assets that will help them rebuild into being a contender. In this scenario, they would get back some solid young players who get limited playing time on the New York Knicks, and could possibly improve on a team where more consistent touches are offered. The second-round pick is just an extra asset that would help push this trade over the top, and draft picks are always welcomed by any team.
Frank Ntilikina is a solid defensive guard who will most likely not get playing time on the New York Knicks, as the Knicks have plenty of guards who are ahead of him in the rotation. He could get good minutes on the Knicks, and they could then evaluate whether Ntilikina will be part of their plans in the future. Kevin Knox is a solid forward who doesn’t get many minutes either: but he shoots 39.1% from 3PT range this season, and could develop into a nice shooter. Alec Burks is a solid scorer, who would be useful to the Houston Rockets immediately to put next to John Wall and Christian Wood. Overall, this is a solid package that would give the Houston Rockets some young players to work with.
New York Knicks Make A Playoff Push
The New York Knicks look genuinely different this year. They have been playing some inspiring basketball, and competing against any team that they face. Coach Thibodeau has brought the gritty and defensive version of Knicks basketball back to the city, and it is compelling to watch. Victor Oladipo could be the piece that lets the New York Knicks truly compete for the playoffs, and possibly get to the second round. The New York Knicks would also be able to sign Oladipo to a big contract with the team once he hits free agency, and he would be a perfect fit for the team both short and long term.
Victor Oladipo is a solid two-way guard who can score on all three levels, and play lockdown defense on the top perimeter player from the other team. Oladipo’s ability to provide consistent perimeter scoring would be a great stabilizing presence for the team. He is a combo guard who could play either guard position. Victor Oladipo would be a good fit next to a forward like Julius Randle, as Oladipo doesn’t need to dominate the ball. There is no doubt that Victor Oladipo is still a great player, despite his injuries, and he could easily be a positive impact on the New York Knicks.
