Kendrick Perkins On Steve Kerr Not Playing Stephen Curry More: “Steve Kerr Knows It’s No Reason To Run Steph Into The Ground This Season Because The Warriors Aren’t Winning A Championship This Year Anyway.”

2 Min Read

The Golden State Warriors are a franchise that is used to winning championships. They have enjoyed an amazing time as the dominant force in the league. While Kevin Durant was there, they were probably the best super team during that time in the NBA. In recent times though, the Warriors have fallen into struggling ways. They are currently the 8th seed in the Western Conference with a 13-12 record.

Steve Kerr has recently come out and said that he wouldn’t play Stephen Curry more minutes than he is currently, not even in close games. It makes sense to pace Stephen Curry in order to unleash him in the playoffs. Kendrick Perkins commented on Kerr’s words, claiming Kerr knows that the Warriors won’t win a championship this year.

Stephen Curry is a smaller point guard who already carries a huge offensive load. Extending his minutes heightens the risk for injury, and there is no reason for Curry to go all-out in a season until Klay Thompson comes back from his injury. It would be best for the Warriors to try and stay competitive this year while being able to actually compete next season.

The Golden State Warriors will likely still be good this season. They have a high chance of making the playoffs and have a positive record so far. But expectations should be tempered, as they aren’t quite a championship team yet.
