NBA Rumors: New York Knicks Could Trade For Collin Sexton

2 Min Read

Collin Sexton is a player whose name has been increasingly mentioned in trade rumors recently. While Sexton is a talented scorer, it seems as though the Cleveland Cavaliers want to move on from him.

A destination that has come up in reports is the New York Knicks. The New York Knicks clearly lacked scoring in the playoffs, and Collin Sexton would clearly rectify that and take some of the scoring pressure off of Julius Randle. Shams Charania of The Athletic has recently stated that the New York Knicks are the “most aggressive” in looking for a potential Collin Sexton trade.

The Knicks are the most aggressive trade suitor for Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton, sources said. Sexton is eligible for his rookie extension this offseason, and with one year left on his deal, it allows Cleveland to continue to be patient in constructing the roster.

A package that was featured in another report featured the New York Knicks sending out Kevin Knox, Obi Toppin, and a first-round pick. That seems like a good deal for the New York Knicks, as they wouldn’t have to give up many key contributors to acquire Sexton.

While there may be some concern about how Collin Sexton would fit into Tom Thibodeau’s defensive system, Collin Sexton would help the New York Knicks in terms of being a perimeter creator. The Knicks are certainly good all-round defensively, and perhaps they will be able to cover for Sexton on that end. While there’s no deal yet, it seems as though the Knicks will be very active in the trade talks this offseason.
