The Ringer Suggests A Blockbuster Trade: 4 Players And Picks For Joel Embiid

2 Min Read

Philadelphia big man Joel Embiid is widely considered one of the best players in the NBA. At 25-years-old, there is no arguing his importance to the Sixers.

So when The Ringer “NBA Show” co-host Justin Verrier revealed a supposed trade idea by one anonymous NBA executive, it threw the community in for a loop. In the trade proposal, Verrier prefaces a deal with the Clippers, in which they would send Montrezl Harrell, Landry Shamet, Moe Harkless and a first-round pick for the All-Star big man in Philly.

“The Clippers need a center, perhaps. The 76ers happen to have an extra one now that they’ve leaned into Ben Simmons as their lord and savior. What if the Clippers traded for Joel Embiid?”

“-What would be the trade?”

“So, it would be Embiid for [Montrezl Harrell], [Landry] Shamet, Moe Harkless … and let’s just say their first-round pick.

Needless to say, there have been countless skeptics on social media, who are just outright refusing to believe such a suggestion was made by anyone in the NBA.

One of Verrier’s own peers scoffed at the idea, pointing out that the Sixers gave up more in their package for Tobias Harris.

While it is mentioned that this suggestion was not based on anything real or tangible, the Sixers don’t seem like a team in the business of moving one of their most important stars for role-players and draft picks. While they have yet to meet their expectations, they are just beginning to discover the potential of their star-studded core. Why give up now?
