The Toronto Raptors finished as the No. 9 seed at the conclusion of the regular season but were eliminated by the Chicago Bulls. Though they have a lot of solid veterans on the roster, the team clearly isn’t working as constructed.

A recent report from Scott Polacek of Bleacher Report revealed that the Toronto Raptors are planning to go a different route with their team for next season, noting that OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam could end up getting traded.

“Another league source said, “They’re going to get rid of some of their assets and just go in another direction” and listed OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam as potential candidates to be moved via trade.”

This perspective makes sense from the Toronto Raptors. It makes sense for them to move some of their veterans while they still have value, and get something in return to build for the future. Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby will likely command offers with a good amount of draft compensation, which can then be used to retool around Scottie Barnes.

Multiple Toronto Raptors Players Were Unhappy On The Team This Year

Aside from the Toronto Raptors potentially heading in a different direction themselves, making some moves could also be beneficial for some of the players on the roster. Ahead of the trade deadline, there was some reporting about some Raptors players being unhappy on the team.

“There’s been rumbling all season long about not just one, but a few players being unhappy over there in Toronto,” said Chris Haynes.

There are instances where talented locker rooms simply don’t click, and it seems as though that case is here. Hopefully, the players that the report was about are the ones that end up getting moved. If they stay, then perhaps the environment will be better for them once others get moved.

The Toronto Raptors are clearly a team that is going to be a major player this off-season. Changes seem to be coming for them, and other teams could potentially take advantage of that and add some impact players to their own rosters. We will see what sort of trades they end up making, but it is clear that the team has no intention of running back this core in its entirety for one more year.
