NBA Rumors: Washington Wizards Could Trade Spencer Dinwiddie

Spencer Dinwiddie is currently the starting point guard for the Washington Wizards. He is known around the league for being a solid two-way guard who is adept at both scoring and playmaking, while also being a solid perimeter defender. Dinwiddie is, however, having a down year, only averaging 13.5 PPG, 4.5 RPG, and 5.8 APG for the Wizards.

It seems as though the Washington Wizards could potentially move on from Spencer Dinwiddie. A report by Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report has suggested that the Washington Wizards would potentially be “open to dealing” Dinwiddie due to his subpar fit with franchise shooting guard Bradley Beal.

Some also say the Wizards are open to dealing veteran point guard Spencer Dinwiddie, who hasn’t quite meshed with Beal.

While Spencer Dinwiddie hasn’t had an amazing year with the Washington Wizards, perhaps another situation could bring out the best in him. During the 2019-20 season with the Brooklyn Nets, Spencer Dinwiddie averaged 20.6 PPG, 3.5 RPG, and 6.8 APG, and that is the sort of high-level play he can provide if given the opportunity on a squad that is better fitted for his talent.

We will see if the Washington Wizards will actually end up trading Spencer Dinwiddie. They have definitely been subpar after a hot start, and a move could help the team improve. They have also been linked with several high-profile names in recent memory. They are reportedly the favorites to land Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant, and there has also been some talk about the Wizards wanting to pair Bradley Beal with Domantas Sabonis.

Hopefully, we see the Washington Wizards figure out a way to get better whether it is through making a trade or otherwise. They are currently the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 23-24 record. There is no doubt that they had expectations of being better than a play-in tier team, and perhaps we’ll see the Wizards make a run in the 2nd half to avoid the play-in tournament and make the playoffs outright.
