Game 3 between the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves was expected to be full of drama and tension, and it delivered. But in an unexpected twist, it wasn’t just Jimmy Butler’s aggressive play or Anthony Edwards’ clutch performance that went viral. Instead, two courtside fans stole the spotlight with a full-blown makeout session directly behind Butler during a live broadcast.

The moment occurred in the second quarter as cameras zoomed in on Butler exchanging words with a referee after a controversial call.

Just behind the Warriors star, a couple seated courtside at Chase Center was caught locking lips in an intense display of affection. As Butler vented, seemingly unaware of the viral moment unfolding behind him, the couple remained completely lost in their own world.

Within minutes, the clip exploded across social media. NBA fan pages, meme accounts, and even media outlets reposted the scene, most captioning it with some variation of,

For some fans, the humorous highlight became more memorable than the game itself. Others joked that the Warriors might need that kind of passion on the court, especially after blowing a lead and falling to a 2-1 series deficit. Some even jokingly speculated that Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. was the mystery man in the frame, though that was quickly debunked.

While the couple’s moment of affection made waves off the court, the on-court battle remained intense. Jimmy Butler, still adjusting to his new role with the Warriors, poured in 33 points on 12-of-26 shooting in a gritty effort to keep his team alive without Stephen Curry

But despite Butler’s big night and 30 bench points from Jonathan Kuminga, the Timberwolves rallied behind Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle to claim a 102-97 win and seize a 2-1 series lead.

For now, the Warriors must regroup for Game 4, with their season potentially hanging in the balance. Curry remains sidelined, and unless the Warriors can slow down Edwards and clean up their late-game execution, they could be on the verge of another early playoff exit.

But if Game 3 proved anything, it’s that the Chase Center is never short on entertainment, whether it’s elite basketball or an unexpected viral moment courtesy of two very affectionate fans.
