The Golden State Warriors dropped to 12-7 in this 2024-25 season following a 113-105 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Saturday at Footprint Center. Stephen Curry returned to the lineup after missing a game due to knee soreness but wasn’t able to prevent the Warriors from suffering their fourth defeat in a row here.

Curry had just two points in the first half on his return but ended the night with 23 points (8-21 FG), seven rebounds, and four assists. As for his supporting cast, Andrew Wiggins had 18 points (7-17 FG), three rebounds, three assists, and a steal while Draymond Green recorded 13 points (5-8 FG), two rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and a block.

No one else really made a significant contribution and Warriors fans were crushed after the game.

“Everyone should be f***ing ashamed,” one fan wrote that all the players should be ashamed of themselves after this loss.

“Trade Kuminga for a bag of chips or Ben Simmons,” one fan wanted Jonathan Kuminga to be shipped out.

“‘Thank you fans’ graphic. I can already see it,” one fan has already lost all hope for the season.

“Trade Steph to a contender please this team is f***ing horrible and you guys clearly don’t care about your one and only superstar,” one fan wanted the Warriors to move on from Curry.

“Just make a trade now before the team drops to the f***ing abyss of the Western Conference. Make Buddy a starter with Steph to have a much wider spacing,” one fan wanted changes before it got too late.

The Warriors themselves knew they had to upgrade this roster by having a star next to Curry, as they reportedly pursued Paul George and Lauri Markkanen in the offseason. They failed to land either and it will be interesting to see if they manage to bring in a big name before the deadline.

Getting back to the game, the Warriors got off to a slow start and trailed 66-49 at the half. A strong third quarter allowed them to get back in the game and they managed to trim the Suns’ lead down to five points late in the fourth but that was as close as they got.

This was just yet another game this season where the Warriors went down big early and mounted a comeback attempt that fell short. It’s becoming a habit and that’s not one you want your team to have.

As for the Suns, they improved 11-8 on the season with this win. Devin Booker led the way with 27 points (8-20 FG), three rebounds, nine assists, and two steals while Kevin Durant had 21 points (7-20 FG), 10 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks.

The Suns came into this game following a disappointing home loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday and this was a solid response. They’ll take on the San Antonio Spurs at Footprint Center next on Tuesday at 9 PM ET in an NBA Cup game. It’s the last group stage game for both teams and the winner could potentially advance to the knockouts.

The Warriors, meanwhile, will look to end this losing streak when they take on the Denver Nuggets next at Ball Arena on Tuesday at 10 PM ET in another NBA Cup game. They have already booked their tickets to the knockouts by winning their first three games and would be looking to stay perfect by beating the Nuggets.
