Luka Doncic recently inked a $165 million contract extension that keeps him with the Lakers until the end of the 2027-28 season. The Lakers have publicly admitted Doncic will be the franchise’s cornerstone for the foreseeable future. Therefore, Doncic’s future in LA is now secure.

He did not take a lot of time to start spending big in LA as well. Doncic seems to have bought a rare hypercar, the Rimac Nevera, which, according to sources, has only 150 units available in the whole world. The Croatian car maker’s fully electric hypercar has a hefty price tag of $2 million and could go as high as $2.2 million, but that is nothing for Doncic, looking at how much money he is set to earn in the future.

Doncic was spotted driving the addition to his collection of cars in LA, and the video went viral on the internet. Fans took to various social media platforms and expressed their fascination with Doncic’s luxury purchase.

“The real reason he got in shape was so he could fit into this car,” said a fan on Reddit hilariously in the context of Doncic’s recent body transformation.

“It’s the fastest car in the world, you gotta lose weight or else you’re literally weighing it down too much when you’re talking about fractions of a second.”

Yes, the Nevera has a top speed of 258 mph and is indeed the fastest electric car in the world, but body weight does not correlate with Doncic’s decision, as he has no interest in competing with a rare car like that.

“If NBA players go broke today making $50 million/year, there’s something mentally wrong with them. I could see how 90’s players like Shawn Kemp go broke with like 3million/year contracts. Taxes and agent cut that in half, then a mansion and a few nice cars could easily evaporate that 3 million.”

“Those streets aren’t worthy.”

“He might have the best car collection in the league.”

“Luka has such a varied and unique car collection. You can tell he loves cars.”

According to an interview with Esquire, Luka Doncic previously had 13 cars in his collection already before adding Rimac Nevera to it, likely making this the 14th car in his collection.

“I like to drive. It’s personal time,” he said in the interview. “I drive everywhere. Sometimes late at night, just around. In the summer, I like to drive by the water.”

Doncic will now have a 75-mile coastline with 20 different beaches to drive by in LA with the fastest electric car in the world. It must be fascinating to have so much money.
