Someone Bet Almost A Million Dollars On LeBron James Scoring 10 Points — Risking Too Much For 5-Digit Win

An individual was so confident that LeBron James would score at least 10 points against the Thunder that they bet nearly a million dollars on it.

LeBron James came into the Los Angeles Lakers‘ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday having scored at least 10 points in 1,288 consecutive regular-season games. It’s an astonishing streak, and one individual was so confident that he’d get to 1,289 that he bet $884,671.63 on ProphetX on James scoring at least 10 points against the Thunder.

That was so so risky. All it takes is James getting injured early in the game, and you lose nearly a million dollars. The 40-year-old missed time with a groin injury in March, too, and you certainly shouldn’t advise anyone to bet this big a number. They say the higher the risk, the higher the reward, but a return of $13,610.33 isn’t big enough.

The gamble did pay off, though. James didn’t have the greatest of games against the Thunder, but he got to 10 points with plenty of time remaining. The 21-time All-Star had nine points at the half and got to 11 with 8:39 left in the third quarter.

James finished with 19 points (9-16 FG), three rebounds, seven assists, and one steal against the Thunder, as the Lakers won 126-99. It was a stunning blowout win on the road against the team with the best record in the NBA. With this triumph, the Lakers improved to 48-30 on the season and strengthened their grip on third spot in the West.

Getting back to James, you wonder how much money someone would have made if they had bet on him scoring at least 10 points in a game throughout this streak. The last time he failed to hit double digits in a game was when he scored eight points against the Milwaukee Bucks more than 18 years ago on Jan. 5, 2007. Even if you’d started with a small amount back then, you’d have made a small fortune by now.

James will be in action against the Thunder again next at Paycom Center on Tuesday at 8 PM IST. You would bet on him getting to 10 points and extending his streak, but just don’t put nearly a million dollars at stake like this individual did.
