When the Toronto Raptors drafted Pascal Siakam with the 27th pick in the 2016 NBA draft, they probably didn’t know just how good he would become. Siakam has put together an excellent resume for someone who is 28, having won a championship, become an All-Star, and made an All-NBA team. But with the future of the franchise seemingly younger, that may be about to change.

Pascal Siakam is ready to help a team win now, he is averaging over 25 points per game to go along with 8 rebounds and over 6 assists. Those are incredible numbers, and they come in a package deal with tenacious defense and great length. As such, he is coveted by many teams across the NBA, with the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks mentioned as potential suitors. But that may not be what Spicy P wants for himself.

NBA Insider Claims Pascal Siakam Is Looking To Stay In Toronto

With Pascal Siakam on the proverbial trade block, there are many destinations he could end up in. The Raptors would want a sizeable return for trading away an All-Star like him, but teams would likely be willing to pay what it takes. All of this seems to be just speculation if Jake Fischer is to be believed, though, explaining on his podcast that Siakam is unlikely to leave the team before this deadline.

“I would be shocked if Pascal (Siakam) was moved before the deadline. I really would. I think it’s not impossible, but he wants to be in Toronto from everything I’ve heard.”

Having never been on any team other than the Raptors, it makes sense that Siakam doesn’t want to leave Toronto. However, the opportunity to further his career will be a significant factor, being on a contender again would be massive for Spicy P and the solid legacy he is building in the league.

And being traded won’t mean that he has to be in a situation he maybe doesn’t like for too long, either. Siakam’s contract is only till the end of next season, after which he will become an unrestricted free agent and will be able to choose where he signs. His future seems to be very uncertain at the moment, but there is no doubt that many teams across the league are watching it with great interest.
