Paul Pierce is once again sparking debates (or jokes) around the NBA community with his very very hot takes. The Boston Celtics legend has been famous for putting him a little higher than most people really think he is, but he seems to be fine with it. Pierce has compared himself to LeBron James, one of the best players in NBA history, claimed that he had a better career than 3x NBA champion Dwyane Wade and even said he was a better wing shooter than Klay Thompson.

Well, he's not done with his bold statements and Pierce recently said that Dallas Mavericks young star Luka Doncic and he share a lot of characteristics. During a recent edition of ESPN's "The Jump," Pierce claimed that he saw a lot of his game in Doncic, one of the most promising young players in the NBA right now (2:00 minute mark).

“He (Doncic) got a lot of me in him,” Pierce said. “No seriously, though. He looks slow, lethargic, but he always gets there. He’s a better passer, but as far as scoring ability, me and him have got a lot in common.”

He just said he and Doncic could overcome their lack of athleticism at the time of scoring, which is why Pierce did during his NBA career and is what Doncic is doing right now. The Slovenian player has enchanted everybody and he's not a Russell Westbrook-type of player. That's how you know he is special.

Still, Pierce received a lot of bad comments on social media for his takes, with one person even pointing out the huge difference that there is between The Truth and Doncic.

"Paul Pierce had 19 seasons to make the All-NBA first team, or get his name on an MVP ballot. Never did either. Luka did them both in year two."

Even though they share those characteristics in their games, Doncic has taken the most advantage of his skills and he's expected to become one of the faces of the league in the future.
