The Phoenix Suns aren’t done adding pieces this 2022-23 NBA season, and after adding Kevin Durant via trade, they keep looking for options in the buyout market.
Added to their reported interest in Derrick Rose, the Suns could target John Wall too.
“Phoenix, they’re still looking for another ball-handler,” Chris Haynes said, via Ahn Fire Digital. “And so if the Derrick Rose situation doesn’t play out, which looks like it most likely won’t, then they have to look at other guys out there. And you look at the buyout market, the only other prominent guard that has ball-handling skills and obligations is John Wall, and we’re not hearing much on him as of right now.”
John Wall hasn’t had the best tenures in the league since injuries started bothering him. He was traded to the Houston Rockets in 2021 in a blockbuster deal for Russell Westbrook.
After that, he signed with the Los Angeles Clippers and following a trade with the Rockets again, Wall was cut by the Texans team. Averaging 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists while shooting 40.8% from the field and 68.1% from the free-throw line, he’s waiting for another opportunity in the league, and the Suns could offer him that.
Derrick Rose On The Phoenix Suns Radar On Buyout Market
As stated before, Phoenix is reportedly monitoring a potential Derrick Rose buyout, who wasn’t on the team’s rotation until last weekend when fans started chanting his name at Madison Square Garden, forcing Tom Thibodeau to sub in Rose.
The player admitted he’s aware of the reports, but he hasn’t talked to anybody about a buyout, let alone joining the Suns.
Rose is still a solid role player and could be very good for the Suns, but right now, that is an unlikely move for the former NBA MVP. If D-Rose doesn’t ask out of New York, Wall could be a solid addition to the Suns too.
