The 2023 NBA Draft promises to be one of the most exciting classes of the near past. This draft features an incredible top-3 and is quite deep through the lottery with strong players.

Brandon Miller has been projected as the third pick for most of the season. He was recently involved in a murder scandal where he brought a gun to one of his teammates who used the firearm in a murder. The University of Alabama has given him a personal security detail for safety after disturbing messages were sent to the forward.

Miller has not been charged in the murder of Jamea Jonae Harris, with the alleged perpetrator Darius Miles and his friend Michael Lynn Davis being indicted for the crime. Miller’s involvement has been questioned heavily, but the lack of formal charges brought against him seems to have not hurt his draft stock. In fact, many analysts have started picking him to be the second pick ahead of Scoot Henderson.

Will Brandon Miller Be The Second Overall Pick?

Everybody knows that Victor Wembanyama is the prize of the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery. Whichever team gets the second pick will be faced with an interesting question. Miller or Henderson?

Miller is a 6’9 two-way forward with enough versatility to playmaker, shoot from distance, and finish at the rim with authority. Henderson is a 6’3 point guard who hasn’t had the best season in the G League, often struggling to stay healthy. Miller has led Alabama to be the best team in the SEC ahead of March Madness this season.

Certain teams would go Miller over Henderson due to fit. Teams like the Charlotte Hornets or Indiana Pacers would prefer getting a complementary wing like Miller next to their All-Star point guards than getting Henderson. Similarly, a team like the Houston Rockets has more of a need for a point guard than another wing, so they may pick Scoot over Brandon. We’ll have to wait for Draft Day to know which one will ultimately be the second pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
