When he’s healthy, there aren’t many players better than Kawhi Leonard in the NBA. In fact, a few believe that Leonard ranks higher than Dwyane Wade on the all-time list,

Former Indiana Pacers superstar Reggie Miller had a counter-argument for it during a recent episode of ‘The Dan Patrick Show.’ Miller picked Wade over Leonard due to the former’s ability to play through injuries.

“At times, no one is 100 percent this time of the year,” Miller said. “You’ve got to be able to play through it. You’ve got to be mentally strong to play through it all. … I’m definitely going with Dwyane Wade; he played through injuries. They made a commercial about that, fall down six times, get up seven, they made commercials about that better player.

“Give me flash, I’m gonna take him in game seven, man. Give me Dwyane Wade when he won his first championship over Dallas without LeBron, without Chris Bosh, give me that dude, I’ll take that dude versus anyone.”

Dwyane Wade’s latter years in the NBA were plagued with injuries. But according to Miller, Wade had the will to play through some of those injuries.

As for Kawhi Leonard, no one has questioned his skills to play the game of basketball. But the basketball gods have not been kind to him in terms of keeping him healthy.

Even in the 2023 NBA playoffs, Leonard was ruled out of the series after just two games, which ultimately played a vital role in the Los Angeles Clippers getting eliminated in the opening round.

Kawhi Leonard Has Picked Up Another Serious Injury

Kawhi Leonard is the primary superstar of the Los Angeles Clippers. The entire team looks up to him during tough situations.

But Leonard wasn’t available for his team after the first two games vs. the Phoenix Suns. Initially, the severity of Leonard’s injury wasn’t unveiled by the Clippers. However, after getting eliminated from the postseason, it was revealed that Leonard has suffered a torn meniscus.

“Clippers star Kawhi Leonard has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his right knee, sources tell. Leonard averaged 35 points in the first two games of this postseason vs. the Suns before the meniscus injury was revealed, and he was shut down by medical staff.”

It could take anywhere from six to twelve weeks for Leonard to completely heal from his injury.

But there is concern that Leonard won’t be at his 100% after returning to the team, and it has led to many urging Kawhi to retire from the NBA. Retiring from the league may be an overreaction, but the Klaw needs to ensure he’s more available for the team moving forward.
