Robert Horry Says The Spurs Were The “Boringest” Team Where He Played: “The Most Exciting Thing We Had Was When Tony Parker And Eva Longoria Started Dating.”

After being successful for the past 25 years, the San Antonio Spurs are a model franchise in the NBA. Except for the Kawhi Leonard saga, the Texas-based franchise didn’t have many dramas during their impressive run which set the standard for the rest of the league.

Robert Horry went to San Antonio and won with the franchise, becoming a reliable piece for Gregg Popovich’s team. Right now, there is too much drama in the league, especially the Kyrie Irving situation with the Brooklyn Nets and Ben Simmons’ ongoing back and forth with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Recently, Horry discussed the Kyrie issue with the Nets, trying to compare it to the moments he lived during his active career. On his Big Shot Bob podcast, the 7-time NBA champion explained that the Houston Rockets had some serious issues, as well as the Los Angeles Lakers. However, when it comes to the Spurs, there was nothing to say there.

Via Air Alamo:

“We had the situation when Vernon [Maxwell] left the team in ’95,” said Horry. “But other than that, when you’re winning, you cover up a lot of stuff.” The Spurs did plenty of that in the early 2000s, but the lack of drama still sticks out in Horry’s mind.

“In San Antonio, we never had any damn drama,” said Horry. “That was the most boringest team. The most exciting thing we had was when Tony [Parker] and Eva [Longoria] started dating.”

It’s hard to decide if that was sad or great for the team. It sounds like Horry wanted to see more juicy things in San Antonio, but that franchise always tries to keep things cool. Still, it was Parker who starred in one of the biggest scandals in Spurs history, although that happened in 2010, two years after Horry’s retirement.

As stated before, the last big thing we knew about them was the infamous Kawhi Leonard health situation and subsequent trade.

Ever since that, the Spurs have drawn little to no interest around the league. They are a rebuilding squad right now, waiting to assemble a roster to compete like Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker did in the past. Even when that happens, people hope that their success comes in boring ways, exactly like Horry described it.
