Robin Lopez Roasts Former Teammate Anthony Davis: “I’ve Always Wanted To Be Interviewed By A Muppet Wearing A Hat But The Closest I’ve Come Is Playing With Anthony Davis.”

Anthony Davis was roasted by former teammate Robin Lopez, who said the closest he has come to being interviewed by a Muppet in a hat is playing with AD.

NBA teams have started hosting their media days around the league and it has led to a lot of fans getting their fix of the biggest talking points from the summer. Players like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Russell Westbrook, and many others have spoken to journalists for the first time after their summer. But media day is great for lighthearted moments that fans really appreciate.

One of these moments came from Robin Lopez, who took to Twitter ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers media day to talk about how he has been waiting 15 years for a hat-wearing Muppet to come to a media day and interview him. He said that while adding a zinger towards former teammate Anthony Davis.

Davis and Lopez were teammates during AD’s rookie season with the then-New Orleans Hornets. It was the last season of the team under the Hornets’ name, as they were renamed to the Pelicans at the end of the season. Lopez and AD started together, with AD as the power forward and Lopez as the center. He’d be traded at the end of the season while Davis would enjoy a successful stint with the team before being traded to the Lakers in 2019.

Anthony Davis Determined To Be The Star The Lakers Need In 2022-23

AD was Lopez’s rookie when he came into the league, so the relationship between the pair is good. The expectations of both players are very different this season. Lopez is to man the rotational center spot on the playoff-hopeful Cleveland Cavaliers while Anthony Davis is entrusted with being the #1 option for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers have struggled with Davis being injured for the majority of the last 2 seasons and the center has vowed to try and play 82 games this season. Everyone knows that his availability is hugely conditional on him staying healthy, so that isn’t something he can control when the season starts.

Hopefully, this offseason has put Davis in the optimal spot that he needs to be with his health. LeBron James has a lot on his plate heading into Year 20 and Davis needs to be able to shoulder that load to make the Lakers a viable threat in the West.
