Scottie Pippen Says Anthony Davis Must Be The Leader, Not LeBron James, If The Lakers Want To Win A Championship

Scottie Pippen has made a bold claim regarding the season of the Los Angeles Lakers and their desire to win the NBA title this campaign. They have put together a great group of players this season, led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The King is having yet another season to remember, even being considered the rightful MVP winner by some fans and players. However, not everyone believes James is the man that will take this team to win the title once again.

For instance, Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen recently talked about the pair, urging the Lakers to give the reins of the team to Davis instead of LeBron.

Pippen was asked on ESPN’s The Jump who he believes has more to prove between AD and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Pippen picked AD since Giannis is on the verge of being a two-time MVP and reached important stages with the Bucks last season.

“We all realize that LeBron James has played for the last 20 years pretty much and that he’s not gonna be the guy that carries the Los Angeles Laker team. If the Lakers are going to go anywhere this season, I think offensively the weight has to be on AD. I think defensively he has to be the anchor for them on that end as well.”

Even though Pippen has a valid point, it will be hard to see the Lakers making this change this season. LeBron has demonstrated this season why so many people believe he is the best player in the world. While James is the leader of the Lakers’ offense, Davis has been the best defensive player of the team all season long.

Bron remains part of the MVP conversation and until he doesn’t start showing signs of slowing down, the Lakers will be led by the King. AD is still young and he can be the perfect leader for the team in a couple of seasons. However, Pippen believes the time is now for AD.
