Sebastian Telfair was a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2010 when a rumor started to spread that his teammate Delonte West was having an affair with LeBron James’ mother, Gloria. On a recent appearance on Vlad TV, Telfair was asked if there was any truth to that rumor.
“I don’t got no confirmation on that but I was there during that time and based on the vibe, I don’t know, but it probably was true,” Telfair said. “

The rumor came out during the 2010 Eastern Conference Semifinals between the Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics. Telfair said he couldn’t care less about it at the time, as he was frustrated because he wasn’t playing. He just wanted to put on a jersey and go out there to help his team win the series.
It is noteworthy that the 38-year-old thinks it might have been true based on the vibe. Telfair did not elaborate on what exactly he meant by that, and there is no point speculating about it either.
While a rumor like this would have been brushed aside usually, LeBron’s poor play on the court gave it some credence. It was claimed that James found out about it before Game 4 of the series and it crushed him.
In his first eight playoff games in 2010, James averaged 32.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 2.3 blocks. He was also remarkably efficient, as he shot 55.7% from the field and 48.6% from beyond the arc.
In the three games he played after allegedly finding out about the affair, LeBron averaged 21.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game. His efficiency went down the drain, as he shot 34.0% from the field and 15.4% from beyond the arc, as the Cavaliers lost all three games to lose the series in six.
Was this alleged affair the reason for LeBron’s struggles? Well, no one can say for sure except for the man himself, who has never really spoken about the subject.
Delonte West Said There Is No Truth To That Rumor
While no one from the James household has had anything to say, West has spoken about it. He has always denied that anything of that sort ever happened. All the way back in 2012, West stated he felt terrible that people were making jokes about it and were trying to tear down Gloria.
“If we want to continue to grow as a human race, what are we teaching our kids if we try to make humor and fun out of stuff like that?” West said. “Number one, something like that never happened. I don’t know where they got that from. For a strong black woman like that, for people to try to tear her down, that’s terrible. That’s terrible in so many ways.”
Just a few months ago, West reiterated that he never slept with anyone’s mother.
“I ain’t never ever f****d nobody’s mother.”
Despite his denials and the fact that there is no real evidence of any sort to prove that something happened, this is a topic that just keeps popping up from time to time.
