Last week, one of the big talking points was the altercation between former NFL star and analyst Shannon Sharpe and the Memphis Grizzlies team. Sharpe was sitting courtside at a game between the Grizzlies and the Lakers when a verbal exchange with Dillon Brooks escalated into a major scuffle. The stories from that exchange have kept coming out, each one better than the last.

There was the interview Shannon Sharpe gave immediately in the aftermath of the interaction, where he flamed just about everyone that came to have a word with him. Dillon Brooks had some choice words for the Hall Of Famer later as well, the beef was quite entertaining. But what mattered more than anything else was the result, with the Los Angeles Lakers claiming a narrow comeback win.

Desmond Bane Was Made To Look Silly After Dennis Schroder’s Game-Winner, As Per Shannon Sharpe

The Grizzlies looked like they would comfortably win the game, up 1 with the clock winding down and the ball in Desmond Bane’s hands. Dennis Schroder came up with a colossal clutch play, though, to steal the ball and then make a bucket with the foul. Shannon Sharpe went on to say, though, that Bane talked smack to him before the play occurred.

“It was, like, 10 seconds before he got the ball stolen,” Sharpe said of when he made his comments to Bane. “He comes over, he looks dead in my eye, he said, ‘You know this game over.’ I say, ‘Either we’re gonna win it in regulation with LeBron [James] 3 or we’re gonna get you to overtime, but we’re winning this game.’”

While Desmond Bane does look a bit bad with these comments being revealed, it’s not like Sharpe’s predictions came true, either. It wasn’t LeBron James‘ three that won the team the game. Considering how big a fan of LeBron James Shannon Sharpe is, though, it’s not surprising to know that this is what he had to say to Bane.

The Memphis Grizzlies do seem to have a general problem where they talk a lot for a team that hasn’t achieved all that much yet. Talking smack only works out well if the players can back it up, and in this case, it would seem like Desmond Bane failed to do that. It’s a learning process for a talented young group, and if they can win a lot in this postseason, the talk will only get louder.
