Shaq O’Neal Says Stephen Curry Is The Best Player In The NBA

Stephen Curry drew a lot of criticism at the beginning of the season. Even despite all he’s accomplished throughout his remarkable career in the NBA, some people still dared question his legacy.

Curry answered by playing the best basketball of his career, which is a lot to say as he’s already won two MVPs – one unanimously.

The Golden State Warriors have needed everything their best player has been able to give them this season, as they lack another scoring option and have struggled to stay in the top 8 in the Western Conference for most of the year.

Curry has scored lights out for the past couple of months and is silencing his doubters one at the time, including Shaquille O’Neal.

Even though Shaq admitted that he didn’t like Steph when he first entered the league, he’s now said that he’s his favorite player, and went as far as to call him the best player in the NBA right now:

While some people may think that Shaq is reaching, he’s got a valid point. I mean, he’s willing his team into playoff contention and he could even lead them to the 7th seed to control their destiny in the play-in tournament.

Curry was recently named Western Conference Player of the Month after making a fool of opposing defenses. Also, he’s leading the league in scoring despite missing several games due to injury.

Thus far, the 3-time NBA Champion is averaging 31.6 points (which is a career-high) to go along with 5.5 rebounds (also career-high), 5.8 assists, a career-best 5.3 three-pointers, and  1.2 steals per game on 48/42/91 shooting splits.

The fact that a player that’s accomplished so much has been able to take his game to a whole new level when his team needs him the most should put an end to the debate about his legacy.
