Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal formed one of the most iconic duos for the Los Angeles Lakers. They helped the Lakers win three consecutive rings in 2000, 2001, and 2002.

However, after breaking up in 2004, Shaq got the fourth NBA title of his career in 2005 while playing alongside Dwyane Wade. Bryant got back at him after winning two back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010. During Kobe and Shaq’s one-on-one interview with NBA on TNT in 2018, O’Neal revealed he destroyed his house after Kobe won the fifth ring of his career. He even joked about signing with the Golden State Warriors in 2018 to win another championship.

“Heated, I tore my house up,” O’Neal said. “I went crazy. ‘Cause, when I got four and you got four, that’s straight. When you got that fifth one, you said, ‘I just wanted to get one more than Shaq.'”

Kobe hilariously claimed he was happy that O’Neal couldn’t do anything about winning another ring after he won his fifth in 2010. At the time, the Big Aristote was already 38 years old. But he joked about joining the Dubs in 2018 for a 10-day contract to win another one.

“You know what I may do next week?” Shaq added. “I may sign with Golden State on your a** and get another one. So sign a 10-day with Golden State so I get that five.”

The 2018 Golden State Warriors featured the Big 4 of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. Had Shaq signed with them, he would have easily won the fifth ring of his career.

But even though O’Neal joked about it, there was no way he could play in the NBA at that stage in his life. He was already 46 years old and way out of shape.

O’Neal just has to live with the fact that Kobe Bryant won one more ring than him. By the end of their careers, Bryant had five titles to Shaq’s four, and that was something the Mamba was extremely proud of.

Kobe Bryant Trolled Shaquille O’Neal After Winning The Fifth Championship Of His Career

The 2010 NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics were as thrilling as it could get. The series finished in seven games, with Bryant being the outright best player.

Kobe averaged 28.6 PPG, 8.0 RPG, and 3.9 APG in the Finals and took home the second NBA Finals MVP award of his career. After winning the fifth title, Bryant clapped back at Shaq during the postgame conference.

“Just got one more than Shaq,” Kobe said. “You can take that to the bank. You know how I am. I don’t forget anything.”

Shaq and Kobe had differences throughout their careers, but they still respected each other as legendary players. So much so that Bryant believed that if O’Neal had his work ethic, they could have won 12 rings together.
