Who is the greatest basketball player of all time? The debate will go on as long as the NBA exists. Michael Jordan and LeBron James are usually the two names that are thrown out the most in these debates.

But every once in a blue moon, Kobe Bryant, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant find a way to sneak into the debates as well. However, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal recently shared a post on his Instagram story that put the GOAT debate to bed.

“MJ was the most unstoppable. LeBron is the best all-around. Kobe was the hardest-working. KD is the most skilled scorer. Curry is the best shooter. Notice how I appreciated all of them without dissing any of the others,” the post read.

Shaquille O'Neal Finds The Perfect Way To End The GOAT Debate Between Jordan, LeBron, Kobe, Durant, And Curry

Over the years, O’Neal has given different answers to the GOAT debate. For himself, he revealed that he never wanted to be in the conversation. Instead, he wants to be remembered as the most dominant player ever.

As for the recent list he shared, that’s arguably one of the best takes at the GOAT debate. It’s better to recognize each superstar for what they are good at rather than to fight to prove that there’s only one GOAT.

Shaquille O’Neal Thinks Michael Jordan Is Still The GOAT Even After LeBron James Broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s All-Time Scoring Record

LeBron James created history during the 2022-23 NBA season when he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most points in NBA history. James currently holds the title of the all-time leading scorer with 38,652.

If James returns this summer, he can add more points to the record and secure it for at least a few decades.

In spite of James breaking the record, Shaq thinks Jordan is still the greatest basketball player of all time.

“It’s an interesting question,” O’Neal said. “I think the greatest player ever is Michael Jordan. LeBron is about to do something that hasn’t been done in a long time, and it’ll move his name up there. But for me, it’s always Dr. J, Michael Jordan, Magic, and those guys.”

At the end of the day, O’Neal cannot be blamed for this opinion. A quick look at our writer, Eddie Bitar’s comparison between MJ’s and James’ careers can help fans understand who is the real GOAT. It’s really not that hard.
