The Los Angeles Lakers picked up their second consecutive win last night, as they made easy work of the Houston Rockets. Carmelo Anthony had an incredible performance once again, putting up 23 points for the Lakers to help them secure a big win.
LeBron James had a decent outing, putting up 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. But the big cause of concern was once again his three-point shooting. James shot 0-6 from the three-point line, marking his second straight game with a poor three-point shooting performance.
Against the Cavaliers, James shot 1-10 from the three-point line. Given how well he started the season, shooting close to 50% for his first 3 games, going 14-29 from three, this sudden slump is a little difficult to explain. Perhaps it has something to do with the 2 games he missed due to ankle discomfort.
Melo has been very clinical from the three-point line so far and is currently shooting at 50% from beyond the arc. His three-point shooting will be a big boost for the Lakers, who were the worst three-point shooting team last season.
Skip Bayless reacted after the Lakers’ big win over the Rockets. He called out James for his struggles from the three-point line over the last 2 games and questioned whether Carmelo Anthony shooting so well from the three-point line will allow James to escape any criticism for the way he has shot it so far.
Where would these Lakers be if they didn't have Carmelo Anthony (11-16 threes last 2 games) canceling out LeBrick James (1-16 from three last 2 games)???

Skip is notorious for being overly critical of LeBron James. He consistently finds ways to undercut his greatness, and accentuate his flaws over any and every topic. Anthony’s performance was excellent for the Lakers, as he even stepped up defensively for them.
LeBron James is still one of the best players in the league. And if he can find his early-season rhythm from three going forward, he and the Lakers could mount a serious title challenge this year.
