It is clear that the Nets still need to figure out a couple of things before becoming the competitive team everybody expects them to be in the 2020/21 NBA season. The league has seen this team assemble a Big 3 that can score at will but are struggling to stop their rivals, which has made their life very difficult.
You can say they have to work things out before saying if they’re a championship-caliber team or not but that doesn’t seem to be the chance for everybody. In fact, ESPN’s analyst Stephen A. Smith was recently called out for all the times he’s changed his mind about the Nets. Once he says this team is winning it all, then he says they are a disaster, only to change his speech and say they are a real threat to the rest of the association.
It was his unofficial burner account who shared a pic of all the different things the analyst has said regarding the Nets and they’re very changing. NBA fans reacted to that and called him out for not being consistent with his opinions.

It’s crazy bc espn has access to sooooo many statistics that it’s really crazy bc it’s analysis like him that just use it to entertain not really state facts

i’ve always said max has better takes than stephen a but everyone gangs up on em on the show so it makes people think he’s crazy

Max doesn't have that many bad takes. is that when he's wrong the whole internet highlights it and when stephen a is wrong they just bursh it off. For example max with Tom brady it was a bad take but he was right they weren't many qbs that where good when they're past 40

Stephen A. is one of the most entertaining analysts out there but not everybody agrees with the way he does and says things. This inconsistency isn’t bad, especially for a team like the Nets. They know they can compete for the title and a bad game shouldn’t say whether or not they will play in the Finals this year.
Even though they have stated they need to improve their defense but until they don’t make real changes, they will keep playing the same way and only time will tell if that will be enough for them to come out of the East. But, this team gets a lot of views and likes so it’s interesting and profitable to talk about them every day.
